Sector survey to shape future FE digital content service

New sector survey launched to help shape the future of Jisc’s digital content service.

We are inviting further education (FE) practitioners to take part in a new sector survey that will help shape the future of our digital content offer, including the e-books for FE service.

The survey is now live and forms part of our ongoing efforts to ensure our licence agreements and content offerings deliver clear value, improve affordability and support equity of access.  Working with the sector and gathering direct input from members will ensure the next phase of provision reflects current teaching, learning and curriculum needs.

This work builds on earlier discovery activity, including a request for information issued to platform and content providers and feedback gathered directly from the sector. An invitation to tender for platform providers will also be published in the next few weeks.

The survey examines practical areas such as content needs, workload, use of digital and AI tools, and how resources are accessed and used in teaching. The findings will directly shape the design of the future service and how it supports day-to-day delivery and evolving approaches to teaching and learning.

It takes around 10–15 minutes to complete, and we encourage colleagues to share it across their institution to ensure a broad and representative response, in particular with those involved in teaching, curriculum design and resource delivery.

Take the survey.

Joe Pettican, licensing portfolio specialist, says:

“Input from the sector is central to this work. Hearing directly from practitioners at this stage in the process will help us ensure the future service builds on what already works, while responding to how teaching and learning needs are changing across FE.”

Responses will be analysed alongside existing research and used to inform the next stage of development. We will share further updates as work progresses.
