Our priorities for Scotland 2025-26
We aim to support digital transformation, the adoption of artificial intelligence and strengthen cyber security in Scotland.
Priority one: supporting digital transformation in Scotland
Colleges and universities are supported in quality enhancement through engagement with our digital elevation tool or our framework for digital transformation and maturity model.
What good looks like:
- Positive feedback on the use of the digital elevation tool and the framework for digital transformation and maturity model in supporting institutional enhancement in Scotland
- A high rate of engagement with our support around the digital elevation tool and the framework for digital transformation and maturity model
- Positive feedback on the use of our innovation hub at the University of Stirling by sector agencies, role-based communities and institutional groups in Scotland
- Positive tertiary quality enhancement review (TQER) reporting on digital strategy development across the Scottish tertiary sectors
- One or more demonstrating digital transformation events held in Scotland
Priority two: artificial intelligence
Through our support and sector leadership, Scotland’s colleges and universities grow their effective, efficient and confident use of appropriate artificial intelligence (AI) across their institutional activity.
What good looks like:
- Our AI support will complement the work of other sector agencies to ensure positive impact of AI in the post-16 education sector in Scotland
- Publication of case studies involving the use of AI in Scottish colleges and universities, covering institutional strategy and policy, raising staff AI capability and the development of learner AI skills
- Increase in engagement with the digital elevation tool AI-related questions (colleges) and the building digital capability discovery tool AI question sets (colleges and universities)
Priority three: cyber security
Raise the baseline of Scottish tertiary education sector cyber resilience, with increased funder and government confidence in the sector’s cyber security.
What good looks like:
- A complete or very high rate of awareness, adoption and satisfaction in the use of our core cyber services
- An above average adoption of our additional cyber services
- An increase in sector stakeholder confidence in colleges’ and universities’ cyber resilience resulting from our support
Priority four: digital skills and capability
Increased take-up and use of our digital capability tools and associated advice and guidance across the Scottish tertiary sectors.
What good looks like:
- Above UK average take-up and use of our building digital capability discovery tool
- Cooperation and collaboration with sector agencies and other key stakeholders to showcase our support for digital skills development in Scottish colleges and universities
- The publication of at least two case studies showcasing the most effective use of our digital capability support in Scottish colleges and universities
- An increasing engagement with Jisc/CDN inside sessions, sector development sessions and resources
