About the communities

Our communities are a place where members can discuss the use of artificial intelligence in an educational setting, including:

  • Sharing best practice and lessons learned
  • Upskilling and learning more about artificial intelligence
  • Asking questions about AI and its uses in education
  • Connecting with each other to find common solutions to shared problems

Who can join?

Our communities are open to those working in tertiary educational institutions in the UK and key Jisc stakeholders. They are administered by our AI team, who support the responsible and effective use of AI in tertiary education in the UK.

How to get involved

The AI team hosts three community groups:

  • Teaching and learning
  • Research
  • Professional services

These bring together members from similar parts of the sector to discuss the AI issues affecting them.

Each group has a JiscMail list and hosts regular online meetups throughout the academic year.

Teaching and learning

Join our AI in education (AIED) information list to receive the teaching and learning newsletter, share publications and events with other members and ask the wider community for advice and guidance.

Join our AI in education chat (AIED-CHAT) list for more in-depth, back and forth conversations with members, this list has a higher volume of traffic than the information list.

Teaching and learning meetups are separated into HE and FE focused sessions, join the relevant group to receive monthly invitations:

Research

Join our AI research (AIRES) list to connect with others exploring the use of AI in research administration and management, as well as its role as a tool for researchers. This list is for discussion on AI in research (not research into AI itself), covering topics like advice and guidance, governance and policy, and the effectiveness of AI tools.

Discussion is welcome on the research JiscMail list and members will also be invited to regular online meetups through the list.

Professional Services

Join our AI in professional services (AIPS) list to explore and advance the use of AI across all professional services. This list has been created to support you - whether you work in admissions, student services, estates, marketing, HR, finance, library services, or any other professional function within the whole of tertiary education.

Discussion is welcome on the professional services JiscMail and members will also be invited to regular online meetups through the list.
