About

The AoC Annual Conference and exhibition, held in Birmingham, is the must-attend further education event of the year. With a real focus on collaboration and partnership, the conference will consider the relationship between colleges and their local stakeholders in an era of devolution – both for colleges in devolved and those in non-devolved areas.

We are delighted to share that Jisc will again this year be supporting the conference as Digital Partner and Beacon Awards sponsor.

From disruption to direction: A strategic framework for artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is already part of everyday life in colleges, shaping how students learn, how staff work and how institutions run. The challenge now is using it in ways that are purposeful, responsible and sustainable. This session introduces Jisc’s new strategic framework for AI, built around three key areas: skills and knowledge, technology and governance, all underpinned by data maturity. You’ll hear real examples from colleges, including pilots, training and community resources, and take away practical ideas to build confidence, make sustainable choices and embed effective governance with the support of your peers.

  • Michael Webb, Director of AI, Jisc

Wednesday 19 November

Hot topic one: What's next for artificial intelligence and digital technologies transformation in colleges?

Come and join the debate about how we ensure that all students and staff are fully benefitting from the opportunities provided by artificial intelligence and digital technology while avoiding the pitfalls. How do we ensure consistent standards of student experience and make a positive impact on teaching and learning? Can sector collaboration contribute to preventing colleges from all re-creating the same wheels in a tight fiscal landscape?

Chair: Anthony Bravo OBE, Principal, Basingstoke College of Technology
