About

As IRUS is to be retired in April 2026, many institutions are looking for a reliable alternative for usage reporting and repository analytics. This webinar introduces OpenAIRE as a replacement for IRUS, offering metadata aggregation, usage metrics, and interoperability across research infrastructures. In this session, we will cover:

  • Why IRUS is retiring and what this means for repositories and service coordinators
  • Introduction to OpenAIRE: its mission, scope, and architecture
  • How OpenAIRE supports the functions previously provided by IRUS, including:
    • Usage statistics
    • Aggregation workflows
  • Practical steps for signing up to OpenAIRE
  • Support resources and timelines to ensure a smooth transition
  • Q&A session to help attendees plan their implementation

This webinar will give participants the confidence and clarity needed to adopt OpenAIRE as a full replacement for IRUS - ensuring continuity of reporting, compliance, and insight into repository usage.
