About
OpenAlex is a massive, free-to-use, open-access database that catalogues the global research system. Named after the ancient Library of Alexandria, it tracks hundreds of millions of scholarly works, linking them to authors, institutions, funders, and research concepts.
Using real-life case studies, Jason Priem, CEO of OpenAlex, will demonstrate how to quickly and easily create dashboards to track your own institution's publishing activity, monitor open access compliance, and analyse collaboration networks. Jason's demonstration will be followed by a Q&A session. AI prompts used in the session will be shared so that you can repurpose them for your own institution.
Participants will leave with:
- Understanding of where OpenAlex gets its data from, and how it could be used as an alternative tool for citation analytics and network-building
- Clear insight into how non-article research outputs (particularly datasets) are being used
- Confidence in using AI prompts to interrogate repositories and CRISs
