Recognising AI bias and misinformation

In this session, participants explore how bias and misinformation can arise in AI-generated content and how misleading or fabricated content can affect its reliability. Participants consider the particular challenges of evaluating AI-generated claims, sources and evidence, and apply critical AI literacy when deciding whether content is appropriate to use or share.

This is the first session in module three. The curriculum is structured into three modules designed for teaching and learning staff:

• Module one: understanding AI in tertiary education for teaching and learning
• Module two: essential AI skills for teaching and learning
• Module three: ethical and responsible use of AI for teaching and learning

This session is aimed at teaching and learning staff who want to develop their understanding of ethical and responsible AI use through critical evaluation. It is particularly relevant for those concerned with identifying bias and misinformation, checking AI-generated information and evaluating whether content can be trusted.
