About
The Department for Education has opened a consultation on proposed changes to the way that assistive software is funded through Disabled Students Allowance. It also seeks views on the use of AI in supporting disabled students. Changes would impact students from England, including English students studying at higher education providers in the other UK nations. The consultation closes on the 18th of June.
Following the community drop-in on 13th May, which looked at understanding the consultation itself, the Jisc accessibility team will be joined by colleagues from the NADP to create a friendly and collaborative space to:
- Address any follow-up questions from the drop-in
- Decide how to effectively articulate the potential impact of the proposed changes
- Have a go at formulating responses that communicate your own views and those of your students
- Consider whether people would like to form an on-going group to monitor developments around DSA and technology
Please have a look at the consultation before you come along. As this is primarily a community discussion, the event will not be recorded.
