About

As part of Jisc’s exploration of artificial intelligence, we’ve created this free digital learning module. If you’re interested in artificial intelligence (AI), and have half an hour to spare, this module is designed for you.

We hear a lot about how we should be worried about AI, usually illustrated with an image from Terminator, but most of us frequently use AI - without even noticing - to do things that would have seemed impossible just a few years ago.

Through videos, articles and exercises, the module explores why that might be. If you haven’t got a whole half an hour, you can even split the module into four shorter chunks.

New places released on the 1st of every month

This 30-minute digital learning module is delivered using our online course support functionality within Microsoft Teams.

You will be sent full joining instructions once your application has been processed.

Who should attend

This module is open to any Jisc member that's interested in the use of artificial intelligence and the ethics surrounding it.

What we cover

The digital learning module will cover the following:

  • What an AI application is
  • What makes AI unsettling
  • Individual and social concerns
  • Sociable AI
  • Respectful AI

Training outcomes

We hope it'll help you think about your own uses of AI and how you can make them more likely to be perceived as useful rather than unsettling.
