Role
My role involves building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including media, politicians, and industry leaders, to demonstrate how Jisc leverages technology to support educators. I focus on advancing digital accessibility and equity, working to shape and transform the policy landscape in these areas. Through effective communication and advocacy, I help raise awareness of Jisc's contributions to the educational sector.
In addition to my primary responsibilities, I serve as co-chair of Jisc's Neurodivergence and Neurodiversity Group. In collaboration with the diversity and HR teams, I work on initiatives aimed at ensuring that all Jisc employees, regardless of their background, have access to tailored materials, training, and events that enable them to thrive in their roles.
Background
I brought a wealth of experience from the technology sector when I began at Jisc in April 2020. Before this, I served as the policy and public affairs manager at Ukie, the video games industry's trade body. I made significant contributions to the sector's equality, diversity, and inclusion efforts, advocating for improvements in diversity through strategic human resources initiatives presented to senior leaders across the industry.
Before my time at Ukie, I worked at an IT Institute, where I led policy initiatives related to education, internet safety, and diversity. My earlier career includes various communications, public affairs, and regulatory roles within the radio, advertising, and technology sectors, providing me with a broad understanding of the intersection between policy, technology, and education.
