This is a briefing to introduce two ‘pure publish’ offers for UK institutions from PLOS, a non-profit, open access (OA) publisher.
The two new agreement models for UK institutions are not based on the article processing charges (APC) business model. They provide options for institutions to move away from handling individual APC transactions, centralised billing or prepayment accounts.
These offers have been designed to provide affordable OA and light-touch administration for UK institutions.
Who should attend
Practitioner university and library staff with responsibility for open access budgets and/or content budgets.
What we cover
In this briefing we will cover:
- Background to the agreements
- The tiered flat fee model for PLOS ONE and the community journals
- The collective action model for PLOS Medicine and PLOS Biology
- Call to action
There will also be opportunities to ask Jisc questions about the agreement.
Following the briefing you will understand how the agreements will work, including terms and conditions, and how to participate.
The briefing will be delivered by Helen Dobson, licensing and engagement manager at Jisc, and Sara Rouhi, director of strategic partnerships at PLOS.
