I work in the digital futures team, on new research projects. I am head of the predictive learning analytics project, predicting student outcomes based on key performance indicators.
The aim is to predict who will need support and to better inform and motivate students during their learning. Ultimately, I want to be encouraging positive study behaviours, improving student outcomes and student satisfaction within UK higher education.
I have previously worked within the oil and gas industry on automatic systems for disaster prevention in pipeline infrastructure, and within academia on applying machine learning to solve optimisation of molecular structures by approximating the underlying quantum mechanics.
I hold a doctorate in the field of physical chemistry during which I had the opportunity to work across, boundaries from nanoelectronic engineering and chemistry to laser physics.
