PASTEUR4OA supported the European Commission (EC)’sJuly 2012 recommendation to member states that they develop and implement policies to ensure open access to all outputs from publicly-funded research.
The project, for which Jisc was a partner, produced a range of resources to inform the development of universities’ and funders’ open access (OA) policies, and their alignment, where appropriate, with the European Commission's OA policy. This includes empirical evidence on the effectiveness of different types of OA policy.
About the project
The project supported the development and/or reinforcement of OA strategies and policies at a national level and facilitated their coordination among all EC member states.
It established a coordinated network of expert organisations that advanced a programme of activities in support of policymaking at the national level under the direction of the project partners.
PASTEUR4OA has also stimulated OA policy development at the national level in alignment with the Commission’s 2012 recommendation and the Horizon 2020 OA policy.
This project targeted policymakers at the national, institutional and funder levels in European countries. It has also targeted institutional stakeholders who may be involved in the processes of developing new or revising/reinforcing existing OA policies.
