We're providing a solution to help institutions monitor their open access activity more effectively.
Background
We carried out a pilot project in 2014 with inputs from over 60 institutions which completed in June 2015. Jisc Monitor examined how institutions (and the broader supply chain) might support and track open access (OA) publication processes, especially compliance and costs monitoring.
Subsequently, we will develop two complementary applications, Monitor Local and Monitor UK, to be released in summer 2016:
Monitor Local
This enables institutions to record and report on data relating to the publication of open access outputs by their academics, including both ‘gold’ and ‘green’ publication routes.

Monitor UK
This is a shared application aggregating and presenting data analytics, enabling institutions and funders to evaluate UK cost and compliance data relating to the ‘gold’ route.
It will provide business intelligence not otherwise available via an easy to use web interface.

Benefits
Monitor UK and Monitor Local will complement other systems and promote greater sharing and exchange of information.
Monitor Local has a UK specific focus and will save time and cover gaps in expertise for example, by automation of data collection and validation wherever possible, especially for publication record enhancement and compliance checking.
Monitor UK will enable institutions to compare and benchmark APC spend and volume against national averages, and to assess publishers based on both price and actual compliance.
