Collaboration through e-infrastructure (Janet Reach)
An initiative to provide industry connections to the Janet network in order to encourage collaboration between industry and academia in the use of e-infrastructure resources
Ended 1 Mar 2017100%
By connecting to the Janet network, industry partners will have access to a wide range of e-infrastructure resources that are managed and operated within academic and research organisations such as universities and research council facilities. It will enable them to carry out innovative R&D across a wide range of sectors.
Academic organisations already have high-capacity connections to Janet that will enable collaborative projects to carry out data intensive work and to move large volumes of data quickly between the partner facilities.
About the project
Janet Reach will provide companies submitting successful proposals with high-capacity connections to Janet to carry out innovative projects in a manner that ensures compliance with state-aid regulations.
The academic and research partners will also be able to provide support and guidance on the effective use of their facilities.
You will receive:
- A high capacity connection to the Janet network, typically at 1Gb/s or greater.
- Support for projects will be offered during the period 2014-2015, subject to available budgets.
How to apply
The application process consists of two stages – project partners submit a proposal that is then assessed and evaluated against the scheme criteria.
Feedback will then be provided, and those projects that are successful will proceed to implementation and provision of a Janet connection to the industry partner.
The initiative is open to all sectors across the UK, providing that the project partners propose work that meets the scheme assessment criteria regarding innovation and the use of e-infrastructure resources.
The organisation can be of any size, including start-ups, SMEs or large corporations providing they can fulfil the requirements of the initiative.
All projects must include as a minimum at least one partner from industry and one from an academic or research organisation.
All guidance documents can be found in the Janet Reach area of the Jisc Community site.
