A list of digital resources that support priority vocational subjects in Wales, particularly for catch-up learning has just been released.
Available now for all Welsh post-16 providers, the quality assured reading list was compiled by Jisc following a request from the Welsh government and in partnership with the sector.
Jisc worked with awarding organisations and publishers to identify free and paid-for resources, grouped by subject, including title, level, publisher details and language.
Where possible, the list indicates whether the resource directly relates to a particular qualification or awarding body.
The second phase of the project, during summer 2021, will identify gaps in available resources, and resources that are in the development pipeline for the coming year, and high-value resources that aren’t part of a Jisc agreement with publishers.
Head of Jisc Wales, Alyson Nicholson, says:
“Throughout the pandemic, we have worked closely with Welsh Government, sector bodies and post-16 providers to support the delivery of blended and remote learning and the embedding of the Digital 2030 Framework.
“This project is a continuation of that relationship. The insight we have gathered allows us to better understand the underpinning challenges faced by education providers and helps inform investment by Welsh Government to meet those challenges.
“Because of the pandemic, many learners are struggling. It’s really important that teachers can easily identify appropriate digital resources to help learners to catch up with work at a pace and place to suit them.”
