The Janet Network consists of a large backbone network to which 18 regional networks connect, serving over 1,000 connected organisations.
Janet Network services are delivered to most of our members through regional networks, and are managed and operated by our Janet Network operations centre.
We are constantly evolving the network to ensure it meets the needs and future requirements of users. In summer 2018, Jisc started a programme to update and rearchitect access in most regions across the UK to allow for a more dynamic and flexible delivery of resilient, high-speed connectivity.
Regional partner agreements
In the remaining regions (Kent, Wales, and the Highlands and Islands of Scotland) we deliver services over networks serving a wider public service user base through partnership agreements with Kent County Council, the Welsh Assembly Government, and the University of the Highlands and Islands respectively.
