Clinical education, clinical research and healthcare innovation rely on joint working between the NHS and universities and research institutes. The NHS-HE forum focuses on the informatics interface between the sectors in areas such as connectivity, access to data and learning or knowledge resources, and information governance.
This forum meets every six months for informatics leads from both the NHS and higher education (HE) to help shape initiatives that improve connectivity and mechanisms for collaboration between the sectors.
It is an informal group that relies on the influence, ideas and action of its individual members to make a difference.
Jon Hoeksma, chief executive and editor of Digital Health
Digital Health combines independent news, intelligence data and leadership networks (eg the CCIO and CIO networks) for the UK health IT sector. Jon is very well placed to give an update on recent digital health developments and trends.
Prof Joe McDonald, practising consultant psychiatrist, director of Connected Health Cities North East and North Cumbria (The Great North Care Record), CCIO of Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Trust and chairman of the Chief Clinical Information Officers Leaders Network
Joe will be talking about the Great North Care Record as an example of a Local Health and Care Record Exemplar (LHCRE) project and some of the particular features of their approach (“secret of consent is to get consent”).
James Holman, research environment delivery programme lead, Genomics England
James will be talking about the research environment, the considerations in setting it up and plans for the future.
Natalie Lafferty, assistant director LLC and head of the Centre for Technology and Innovation in Learning at the University of Dundee
Natalie is a long-time friend and significant contributor to the NHS-HE Forum and will be revisiting some of her earlier work on access to modern software tools for learning and a view on emerging trends and challenges.
