The University of Portsmouth are addressing university open days, a crucial aspect of student recruitment, by developing a chatbot to answer high-volume queries, to free up people for the high-value queries. Conversation automation, chatbots and multi-channel communication provide the ability to communicate across whichever medium students prefer outside of university office hours.
Speakers from the university, and from Google and the development partner, DVELP, will describe why and how they are doing this. How chatbots needs to be crafted from a human interactive perspective, how they need to be designed from a business perspective and how they need to be integrated from a technical perspective.
In the afternoon, there will be a hackathon with a focus of “jobs of the future with chatbots”, which will focus on how students can learn the skills for these jobs.
Who should attend
The event is for anyone interested in exploring how conversational interfaces can be used in an educational context and who wish to expand their skills in the Google chatbot conversation platforms.
The event does not require a deep technical knowledge, and you will not be required to write code.
