This year's Digi Lab is set to be packed with the latest exciting edtech guaranteed to get you thinking.
The ‘seed to oak’ approach means you’ll be able to discover each product from research to development, as well as try out technology available to use in your teaching now.
Our recent survey of 20,000 students concluded that students want teachers to be better with digital, not to use more of it, so why not get immersed in the latest tech and find out how it could work for you and your institution.
Here’s a taster of some of the edtech that you’ll be able to experience for yourselves this year…
Experience holograms and mixed reality
DoubleMe are set to demonstrate the much anticipated Microsoft HoloLens, a device that creates a mixed reality environment, bringing people, places, and objects from physical and digital worlds together.
Not only that, but Ravensbourne will be projecting a hologram from their green room, transmitting themselves to the ICC in Birmingham before your eyes.
The HoloLens promises that: ‘Your ideas are closer to becoming real when you can create and work with holograms in relation to the world around you’.
Catch up with Sanbot Elf, our resident robot
Sanbot is a cloud enabled robot, who will be ready and waiting to meet you at Digifest to demonstrate the impressive things he’s capable of.
He can be programmed to do anything you need, from helping students to find and check out books, to using his bilingual skills to assist international students.
A wayfinding pro, he can even act as a receptionist. With more than 60 sensors, Sanbot boasts facial recognition and ‘almost human-like awareness’.
Got some questions? Why not ask him yourself!
Get tractor trained with the Tenstar Tractor Simulator
You’ll be able to try out the tractor simulator used by South Staffordshire College to train their students.
The full-scale training tool provides realistic exercises that portray real-life environments, and teach maintenance, manoeuvres and techniques, all without leaving the classroom.
