Event host
This event will be hosted by Jason Miles-Campbell, head of Jisc Scotland.
Jason’s role is to ensure that members in Scotland are getting the very best out of Jisc, and making the most of Jisc’s advice and services. Jason will open and close the event.

Digi Lab
One of the features of our Connect more events 2016 was the Digi Lab.The Digi Lab enabled delegates to explore the technology in development and try out what’s currently being tested, and might have an application in education and research.

Connect more opens
Registration opens.
Refreshments will be available and there’s an opportunity to meet with Jisc colleagues and explore the Digi Lab.
Here you'll have the chance to explore a wide range of tools, gadgets and machines, and consider how the technology that is on the horizon is being tried and tested in education and research.
Digi Lab will include examples of cutting-edge technology, including more affordable options as well as some higher-end tech that has the potential to become more commonplace in future.

Welcome plenary
Led by your host Jason Miles-Campbell, head of Jisc Scotland, the opening session will set the scene for the day and will include a strategic update, and the latest news from Jisc.

Connect more with the critical issues - choice of breakout sessions
How can the power of digital help you address some of the challenges you face?
Led by a Jisc expert you’ll be able to choose from one of three parallel sessions, focused on a current crucial issue.
Each session will also provide an opportunity to hear from local organisations, who are making the most of digital technology to help them address these issues.
Session one: Leveraging change through digital capability
Led by Lawrie Phipps, senior co-design manager, Jisc.

Session two: How you can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching and learning

Session three: Implementing analytics
Led by and Niall Sclater, consultant, Jisc.
With contribution from Moriamo Oduyemi, head of corporate information systems, University of Abertay.

Plenary - connect more with peers and practice
Chaired by: Irene Warner-Mackintosh, community engagement officer, Jisc
We’ll be taking a Pecha Kucha inspired approach to our peers and practitioner plenary.
This session will use a simple, image-based presentation format, with inputs from local peers and practitioners who will focus on how, with Jisc’s support, they are making the most of digital, and giving you an opportunity to learn from their best practice.

Time for lunch, but also time to carry on conversations with the Jisc team, delegates and especially those who have been part of the ‘peers and practice’ session.

Connect more with good practice - choice of breakout sessions
Following on from this morning's breakouts, these good practice sessions will focus on how local colleagues are using the power of digital in their day-to-day work.
Practical in their approach, they’ll enable you to take away ideas and approaches to put into your practice.

Session four: Making best use of Jisc eCollections: Historical Texts, Journal Archives and MediaHub
Led by Hazel White, account manager and Scott Gibbens, senior service manager (Jisc eCollections) - both Jisc.
in this session you’ll hear about how you can make best use of Jisc eCollections: Historical Texts, Journal Archives and MediaHub.
Session five: Making a difference with technology-enhanced learning
Led by Chris Thomson, subject specialist - online learning and the digital student experience, Jisc.
With contribution from Sarah Honeychurch, learning technology specialist, University of Glasgow.
In this session there will be a focus how technology can support learning and teaching for a better student experience. Local providers will be sharing how their technology-based approaches have made a difference for learners and teachers.
Session six: Collaboration through technology: moving from possibility to practice
Led by Emma Smith, media services development coordinator, Jisc.
With contribution from Anna-Wendy Stevenson, applied music programme leader, University of the Highlands and Islands.
This session will explore the potential that technology can bring to all forms of collaboration, and consider the difference that it has made to some local organisations and their practices.

Plenary - connect more with the future
The final session of the day will incorporate two keynote speakers.
The first is Andy McGregor, our deputy chief innovation officer. Andy will focus on Jisc’s visions for its work across the education and research sectors.
The second speaker is Jennifer Jones, associate lecturer in higher education, University of West Scotland.
