This service tests mail servers and reports on any vulnerability to unauthorised relaying that is found. The system is available to scan an organisation's mail systems on request, and we will systematically scan certain organisations' mail systems from time to time.
Hours of service
The service is available during the business day.
The business day is defined as Monday to Friday. It excludes 24-31 December, all English public holidays and also the Tuesday following the August public holiday.
This service is centrally funded.
The target availability is 99.5% during the hours of service defined above, measured monthly over a 12 month period, excluding service-affecting maintenance.
Service-affecting maintenance is capped at 0.5% and is normally carried out with at least two weeks' notice.

This service supports IPv4 (it does not support IPv6).
The tests simulate a spam run, comprising SMTP sessions in which certain sequences of commands are sent to an organisation's system using various forms of address in attempted message transfers. Customers can request a test by sending a message to a given address.
