JISC has been talking to institutions who are exploring open approaches. Of these, the following are particularly relevant to open access:
The University of Salford has successfully introduced an institutional repository. This forms part of a wider strategy, which is encouraging the university to embrace open access.
The University of Southampton was the first university in the UK to adopt an institutional mandate for the deposit of research materials in an open access repository.
The University of Edinburgh has experienced almost ten years of engagement and success with open access. Their policies are actively helping to encourage open access, both within the institution and beyond.
