Institutional Access Management Support Project

JISC invited tenders for the design, development and delivery of a programme of support and associated technical solutions aimed at smaller UK FE/HE institutions seeking to join the UK Access Management Federation by becoming an Identity Provider (IdP).

The contract has now been awarded to Kidderminster College and Cardiff University.

Developing personalisation for the Information Environment (2)

This project will scope how the JISC Information Environment (IE) may make use (or should be developed to make use) of adaptive personalisation in order to enhance the user experience. It will specifically consider the ways in which infrastructure established to support the UK Access Management Federation (the UK Federation) could support adaptive personalisation of JISC services, and the potential privacy and legal barriers to such use.

Netskills Federated access management training

Netskills Access management Training

JISC funded 120 places for UK He / Fe institutions to receive training on Federated Access Management and deployment of Shibboleth based IdPs. The training was provided by Netskills.

This project investigates current and future needs among UK research and education community for a more fine-grained authorisation scheme that would allow service providers to take into account of the levels of confidence in identifying a remote entity requesting for service access.

The Identity Project

The project addresses the current practice and future needs of UK academic institutions in Identity Management. The Identity Management issues which are investigated include Grid use, Shibboleth installations of varying degree of maturity, collaborative courses and other long term inter-institutional collaborations, internal and shared dynamic virtual organisations, classes of users other than standard staff/student mix, library access schemes, and NHS involvement.

Feasibility of a cross-jurisdiction Common Access Management Federation Agreement

The JISC Legal service has been commissioned by JISC to carry out a study on federation policy agreements. The study will determine if it is feasible to create a template agreement for access management federations to be used in more than one country.
