On November 6, 2007, Nicole Harris (Senior Services Transition Manager, JISC) gave a presentation titled 'Why Federate? The business of adopting federated access management'. Nicole gave an overview of the business case behind the adoption of federated access management within the UK HE and FE sector, focusing on the role of open standards in achieving the optimum solution for the community. The presentation focussed on the benefits of joining the UK Access Management for institutions, publishers and JISC, as well as examining the wider benefits that federated access management can bring to strategic library developments such as licensing terms and resource management.
