JISCmail: National Academic Mailing List service
The National Academic Mailing List service known as JISCMail, is one of a number of JANET services and is funded by JISC to benefit the learning, teaching and research communities. The CCLRC (Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils) currently operates and develops the JISCmail service on behalf of ja.net.
What we can do for you
JISCmail case study At its heart, JISCmail is an information resource containing a wealth of academic Intellect and is a key tool for disseminating knowledge, experience, fostering collaboration and sharing good practice across the UK and Global academic communities.
It can help you in a number of ways. You can use the:
Survey facility
Extract and evaluate feedback from list members; using results to support funding cases, to demonstrate best practice and find common areas of interest
Mail facility
Exchange ideas and information with other list members despite being geographically dispersed and also reduce the risk of viruses and unsolicited e-mail (SPAM)
Document and image repository
Maintain and share relevant information across the academic and research-based communities and also reduce network bandwidth and the risk of losing valuable data
Discussion rooms facility
Where members can come together for short periods to exchange ideas or draw conclusions where face-to-face meetings using video or tele-conferencing are impractical
Message archives
A source of valuable information. These message archives are available either through e-mail or the web, and can be searched and sorted by list members to meet specific needs
Search facilities
Locate historic or current background information relating to your latest project.
JISCmail offers a Helpdesk service to assist you with any service enquiries you may have related to the service. No query is too trivial for our dedicated team who are always happy to receive your questions, feedback or queries. The service hosts a 365/24 automated helpdesk to receive your enquiries and there is also a telephone number (+44 (0)1235 446780) if you wish to speak with someone on the Helpdesk directly.
