Janet provides a wide-ranging portfolio of network services, which include:
IP services, enabling users to communicate with each other and access the wider Internet.
Application services, to facilitate electronic communications across the network, including:
janet Certificate Service (ensuring secure online communications)
janet txt (a low-cost SMS service for research and education)
janet Brokerage to help support requirements for cloud and data services.
janet 3G, providing anytime anywhere access to network resources
Network security services ensuring the safe transit of communications across the network.
Janet purchasing agreements, bringing cost savings to the sector through aggregated procurement.

Each Jisc funded organisation is eligible to receive a free janet Primary Connection delivered in accordance with the Jisc Funded Primary Connection Policy and through the agreed service level agreement between Jisc and janet.
A Primary Connection delivers the full range of janet network services.
Janet also operates a Network Development programme.
