JISC Advance FAQs

Question Answer
I currently use the 6 individual services for advice - will there be a new telephone number and address that I have to use? There will be no change to how to access the current services - you will still be able to use the contact details that you have to access information. What you will see over the coming months are resources that are more holistic and integrated.
Does this mean that the work of JISC Collections and JANET(UK) will be integrated into JISC Advance?

JISC Advance is a new company that will complement the services offered by JISC Collections and JANET(UK).

JISC Collections negotiates license content and resource agreements on behalf of the education sector and Ja.net provides the technical infrastructure and network for over 18 million users across education in the UK.

JISC Advance will add to this portfolio of organisations by providing a range of of expert advice and guidance, just as the individual services do now.

My institution hosts a JISC advisory service - will there be more work involved when the new company is set up and will the service still be a part of the institution? For institutions hosting a JISC Advisory Service the relationship with service staff will stay the same however the bureaucracy and paperwork will be considerably reduced.
