This project will explore the repurposing of existing and forthcoming JISC funded material suitable for use within the teaching and learning methodologies for the subject areas of art, media and performance studies.

X4L Rapid

Introduction

This project is designed to work with a range of existing art and media resources within the East Midlands region, that are currently being held by other institutions/ agencies, in order to identify and develop new and innovative teaching and learning resources and materials. Partnership and collaborative working will be an integral aspect of this project. Partners will be represented on the project steering committee, through which the project progress and outcomes will be monitored and evaluated throughout the three years.

This project will revitalize both teachers and learners interest in the huge expanse of learning objects and materials that may be used in order to fulfill curriculum requirements and ensure success.

The project also aims to “share good practice” between internal departments and on a wider scale between institutions therefore improving the quality on a regional basis.  The modular approach to the construction of the learning material will also encourage teachers to develop more pedagogically sound content, again improving the overall quality of the learning experience.

It will also bring into the classroom material the students would not normally have had chance to experience or see.  Some of the archived library material we intend to make available will enhance the learning experience quite considerably.  Another positive learning outcome from this project will be a shift from an “instructional” learning environment to a more “constructional” one where the learners take control of the learning process using their own preferred learning style.

Aims and Objectives

  • To explore the re-purposing of existing and forthcoming JISC funded material suitable for use within the teaching and learning methodologies for the subject areas of Art, Media and Performance studies, at a range of abilities from foundation to first-degree level.
  • To increase co-operation and collaboration between FE/HE institutions and learning media data agencies/bodies.

The learning outcome for the project focuses on improving the learners overall experience whilst in the classroom. The scheme will improve the resources available to the teacher and hence save some of the repetitive functions.

  • To develop a model/process of identifying and tagging of existing and new learning objects/materials.
  • To develop and disseminate the clusters of learning and teaching materials throughout the east midlands region.
  • To create a collaborative approach to using content through sharing learning clusters.
  • To trial and evaluate the use of the clusters of learning materials within the community.

Future Plans

  • Identification of materials for immediate digitisation;
  • Coordinator to meet with CETIS, Clive Church etc re identifying a tagging model
  • Develop model process for applying to tags
  • Workshop programmes – potentially to be scheduled as follows:
  • Workshop1 delivered - April;
  • Workshop2  delivered - June;
  • Develop an evaluation plan
  • Develop a sustainability plan
