Strategic ICT Toolkit Field Tests - Deeside College
Summary
Following Welsh Assembly Government approval, Deeside College merged with the Welsh College of Horticulture in 2009, and in 2010, with Coleg Llysfasi. The new institution, which is now one of the largest in Wales and the UK, provides courses for over 25,000 students each year, employs over 1000 staff, and has an annual income approaching £40million. The College has undertaken a review of its institutional vision, mission and core values and is currently reviewing institutional strategies. As part of this exercise the college is attempting to align ICT (Information and Communication Technology) deployment more closely with institutional strategy by embedding ICT considerations into institutional strategy development. The field test project will use the Strategic ICT Toolkit to review the current position in terms of how the college currently governs and manages ICT provision in order to identify areas for improvement that will allow the institution to develop towards more strategically directed ICT deployment.

- Field test the Strategic ICT Toolkit “Institutional strategic ICT self-analysis” with senior managers at the college in order to identify the current maturity level in relation to Strategic ICT within the institution
- Identify areas for improvement and recommendations for change that will allow the institution to develop towards more strategically directed ICT deployment
- Identify suggestions of how JISC could amend the Strategic ICT toolkit to improve its usability and usefulness.
