Repositories Start-Up project
This project will establish an Institutional Repository at the University of Salford. The University of Salford is currently running a variety of Digitisation projects, which will result in the creation of digital files of off print material. The Institutional Repository will form part of these initiatives and will act as a means to showcase the above along with overall institutional research output.
Aims and Objectives
The aim of this project is to develop an Institutional Repository for the University of Salford. The specific objectives are to:
- Develop, on behalf of the University, a repository to enable electronic access to research publications submitted to the RAE 2008
- Enable e-publishing of research papers and other research outputs, to showcase Salford research activity; support Future Research Assessment Exercises; increase citation rates for Salford research papers capture; and preserve the University’s intellectual assets
- House the University’s growing digitised collections
- Encourage Open Access amongst University academics
Anticipated Outputs and Outcomes
The main anticipated project outputs and outcomes are to:
- Develop a functional Institutional Repository to hold and showcase institutional research output
- Provide increased visibility of research activity at the University of Salford
- Provide rapid and wider dissemination of research findings
- Support the University’s Research, Enterprise and Teaching and Learning strategies
- Capture and preserve the university’s intellectual assets
