RoMEO Development 08

The RoMEO service is used worldwide as a respected and authoritative source for the interpretation of publishers' CTAs as they relate to open access archiving. The service is widely seen as an essential component in the open access environment.

Strategic Development Aims

1. to expand the information held by RoMEO
2. to develop new facilities based on that information
3. to internationalise both the holdings and the service
4. to create an internationally-representative body for management and development
5. to identify an internationally-representative funding model to underpin RoMEO as a stable and sustainable service

To work towards these aims, a number of key goals have emerged as a result of user-requests and from international discussions based around the Centrepoint meeting.

Key Goals

1. Information and search at journal level
2. User interface development
3. Addition of more publishers and journals
4. Multilingual data
5. API development
6. Query interface development
7. Extension of data sources
8. A model for international management
9. A model for international collaboration in the use of RoMEO and its data
10. A sustainable international funding model
