Guide to investment in Open Source Software

The Open Source Software Watch service commissioned a user-needs analysis and the report was published in December 2003. This proved to be a valuable document as it provided a list of recommendations about provision of information to managers, cost benefit analysis tools, links to institutional strategies and examples of best practice.

This project, which will be concluded in November 2004, was developed out of these recommendations.  The University of Strathclyde will be producing the following key outputs:

  1. The development of briefing papers for senior managers; and
  2. The development of a guide for investing in software and ICT services.

Further details of the project can be obtained from Andy Dyson .
