The Managing Research Data Programme (#jiscmrd) Launch Day was held in London on 27 November 2009.

The JISC Programme Manager, Simon Hodson, gave an overview of the programme objectives.

The eight projects in the Research Data Management Infrastructure Strand and the ERIM Project, in the Research Data Management Planning Strand gave presentations providing an overview of:

• Project objectives and deliverables
• Institutional context 
• Research challenge: why is a research data management infrastructure needed for the researchers involved and what benefits will be realised?) 
• What success will look like and where will the project be in 18 months time?

• Andy McGregor, JISC Programme Manager, introduced JISCPM (#jiscpm), a new forum for JISC projects to discuss project management issues.

• Finally, the two support projects led by the Digital Curation Centre and by Neil Beagrie provided an overview of support for Requirements Analysis and Cost-Benefits Analysis Respectively.
