core middleware programme plan: evaluation
The purpose of creating clear aims and objectives for the Core Middleware: Technology Development and Core Middleware: Infrastructure programmes is to ensure that there are clear criteria for evaluation to take place. Each area of work has also been aligned with the JISC strategy, so achievements at JISC level can also be evaluated.
Defining the precise evaluation process and technique for the programme will be the first task of the relevant programme steering board. The processes are likely to include the following:
- Collation and monitoring of project evaluations
- Quality Assurance of ‘specialist outputs’ – including technical reports et
- Quality testing of software outputs – to be agreed with Technical Board
- Overall summative evaluation of programme
Implementation issues have been considered from the outset within these programmes and clear work packages have been defined in order to address the take up and use of any project outputs within the community. All outputs will also be assessed against the emerging JISC Service Development strategy.
The Core Middleware: Infrastructure outputs have already been identified as outputs that will form part of a future service. All work packages will produce documentation to inform this process.
