Overview

Erewhon is an investigation into the deployment of existing university computing resources to mobile platforms, coupled with the implementation of relevant location based services and access to the Oxford VLE.

Aims and objectives

Erewhon aims to help create a dramatic increase in the range and types of access to information in the University of Oxford for students, researchers, administrative staff and teachers especially whilst on the move.

Project methodology

The project will work with a series of small demonstrators based on a stable infrastructure, and invite continuous feedback and evaluation.

Anticipated outputs and outcomes

An institution-wide geo location database, report on use of mobile devices, pilot applications, and investigation into mobile access to Sakai.
