The purpose of this study is to review existing research into how users place their trust in digital information resources in the Web environment and current approaches to presenting such resources in ways that engender trust. Information resources in this context means both formal (such as journal articles) and informal resources (such as blogs) used in learning, teaching or research.

Users' trust in information resources in the Web environment

The purpose of this study is to review existing research into how users place their trust in digital information resources in the Web environment and current approaches to presenting such resources in ways that engender trust. Information resources in this context means both formal (such as journal articles) and informal resources (such as blogs) used in learning, teaching or research.

The output of this study is intended to increase understanding of how perceptions of trust influence the behaviour of information users. It should provide an overview of the ways in which trust is either assessed or asserted in relation to the use and provision of resources in the Web environment for research and learning, assess what solutions might be worth further investigation and whether establishing ways to assert trust in academic information resources could assist the development of information literacy.
