Enhancing Repositories for Language and Literature Researchers
See a 30 second video introducing this project
The University of Glasgow is trying to harness the expertise and the power of e-Science to improve resources for language and literature in the ENROLLER project, 'ENhancing RepOsitories for Language and LitErature Researchers'.
The project is a collaboration between the National e-Science Centre (NeSC), the University of Glasgow STELLA Project, the Newcastle Electronic Corpus of Tyneside English (NECTE) and Scottish Language Dictionaries Limited (SLD), with other partners from commerce and higher education. It aims to address a need for the language and literature community which currently deals with distributed, non-interoperable repositories of data that are often license protected.
We will use security-driven service delivery, seamless and secure access to distributed data resources, targeted analysis and collaboration tools in a unified framework and create a greatly enhanced research repository for the community. This will be achieved through supporting single sign-on to federated resources with advanced authorisation tailored to researcher interests and needs through a user-driven language and literature portal. This will facilitate a broad spectrum of research in the languages and literatures of the UK, with the longer term intent of providing a model which can be extended to other humanities data.
