Anglia Ruskin Research Online - ARRO

This project will develop an open access Institutional Repository for Anglia Ruskin University This is very much a start-up project. Hitherto, there has been little co-ordinated collection of research materials at Anglia Ruskin expressly for the purpose of providing access for the wider academic community.

The main project objectives are to:

  • showcase and disseminate Anglia Ruskin University research and scholarly outputs;
  • capture, archive and preserve our University’s intellectual assets;
  • promote and encourage the use of Open Access within our academic community.

ARRO is very much at the initial stages of development . It will be built on a DSpace platform hosted and supplied by Biomed Central using their Open Repository product. The system will capture the data, index the content and distribute it over the Web so that members of the wider community can retrieve our University’s scholarly works from a single system. Full attention will be given to access and search connections with other internal portal and VLE systems and to other services to draw on the content (using OAI-PMH).

The content is likely to include doctoral and research masters’ theses and, possibly, some taught masters’ dissertations, drafts and copies (where appropriate) of articles in refereed and non-refereed journals, book chapters, conference papers and other academic papers of university staff and researchers.

The Project will establish rules for selection and deposit, the application of metadata and will seek to embed the Institutional Repository into the academic culture at Anglia Ruskin through a vigorous programme of advocacy and promotional activity.
