The Shuffl project will develop an open source software tool to help small research projects without dedicated IT support or in-depth web technology experience create and manage data publication on the web. It will adopt a lightweight, open-standards approach for both supporting software infrastructure and information formats. The functionality developed will be just enough to be usable rather than attempting to solve all problems, with the created data accessible using lightweight interfaces that simplify implementation of integration with more comprehensive functions as required. A simple, approachable user interface for data creation and manipulation will be built around a record card metaphor, drawing on lessons with successful pre-Web applications such as Apple’s Hypercard or Xerox PARC’s Notecards system.

Shuffl: Supporting curation of small-scale research data for web publication

Overview
