Environmental reporting for green outcomes (ERGO)
Overview
The project will demonstrate an innovative way of taking action to reduce the environmental impact of institutional ICT through raising awareness of the effect small behavioural changes can make to reducing energy usage.

Appoint a Green-
ICT coordinator to drive the project

Implement power monitors secretly on individual PCs

Develop a platform and process to enable learners/staff to make “energy saving pledges”

Develop a display of energy usage from the selected computers, rooms

Variations of the display will also be broadcast via email, SMS and RSS feeds

Set energy saving targets and encourage staff and students to reach them

The platform will quantify the energy savings and indicate how much these contribute to the agreed targets
