Greening the data centre
The introduction of an Estates-led innovative solution to handle the heat output from the organisations Data Centre. By ensuring heat emissions are disposed of in a more ‘green’ and sustainable way we are confident that this would be a significant part of meeting our Strategic Objective to reduce overall emissions by 8% by 2012.
The solution includes the installation of PV (Photo Voltaic) cells in sufficient quantity which would create sufficient natural occurring energy to run the evaporation cooling unit.
We believe this is a novel solution and our research suggests that these two operations have never been used in combination together before and would produce an economical and green method of generating and disposing of a substantial heat/energy source. Our initial investigations suggest that the system would more than pay for it-self within 3 years and would create a carbon saving of over 60000 Kg/annum.
