This project will assess the current state of Green ICT in London, drawing on the 40+ publically funded universities and higher education colleges which are members of London Higher.

Green ICT in London HEIs (GrILH)

Specific objectives include:

  • baseline data on energy use and carbon emissions using the SusteIT Energy and Carbon Footprinting toolkit
  • categorise progress by London higher education institutions in Green ICT
  • generate case studies to illustrate best practices
  • raise awareness of Green ICT issues within the HE sector in London

Project Methodology

Higher education representatives on project advisory panels will help provide energy use data from a range of multi-faculty and specialist institutions, identify relevant contacts for work on qualitative classification procedures  and guide activities in the various work packages.  Workshops will be used to test conclusions from data analyses and panel recommendations for follow-on activities.

Anticipated outputs and outcomes

Through the process of obtaining baseline data on energy use and case studies, we aim to understand institutional attitudes to Green ICT in London and identify priorities for future support and investment.
