We will also build an Open Archives compliant search service to enable users to retrieve assets across the spectrum of data providers.
Aims and Objectives
Aims
- To establish and populate a range of OAI-compliant Digital Collections at the University of Glasgow using a range of different OAI-compliant pieces of software.
- To act as a catalyst for cultural change and ongoing discussions about the “crisis in Scholarly Communication” within the University of Glasgow and the wider community
- To disseminate our experiences and findings to the wider community through reports, workshops, exemplars and guides to best practice in the development of these services.
- To liaise with other members of the ePrints and e-Theses cluster to share experiences, co-host events as appropriate and to ensure co-ordination within the cluster.
- To investigate digital preservation issues in conjunction with the SHERPA project

Overall Approach
The projects overall methodology will be a practical twin track approach of service development and advocacy activities.
The project will comprise a series of nine interlocking workpackages. Workpackages 4-9 will build a range of OAI compliant data providers and a single, local service provider. Interoperability between these services will be ensured through the implementation of version 2.0 of the OAI protocol for metadata harvesting (OAI-PMH).
These services will be underpinned by workpackages 1-3 which will focus on project management, dissemination and advocacy activities.
Project Consortium
DAEDALUS is a single institution project but it is also a partner in the CURL SHERPA project. We would also anticipate working closely with colleagues in the following JISC FAIR projects:
