Mid-week keynote: The levers of change

James Clay will be asking delegates to consider some of the conversations we have had over the last ten years and challenging us to consider why we keep asking the same questions, why we are sometimes slow to take action and to really look hard at our responses to change. James will offer some of his own observations around why we seem reluctant to learn from the past and argues that this is as important as looking to the future.
James Clay has been ILT and learning resources manager at Gloucestershire College since November 2006. James is responsible for the virtual learning environment, the use of learning technologies, e-learning, the libraries, digital and online resources and the strategic direction of the college in relation to the use of learning technologies.James was ALT Learning Technologist of the Year 2009 for his contribution to changing the college, which has become a leader and an exemplar in its use of learning technologies. James' current interests include researching learning on handheld devices and learning activities which work on personal mobile devices. He also likes to experiment on how we use Web 2.0 to support learning.
James previously was director of the Western Colleges Consortium and he was responsible for the management, strategic direction and development of e-learning using a shared managed learning environment across the four partner colleges in the consortium.
Before Gloucester College, he worked for @-Bristol, a millennium project within the harbourside of Bristol - a job which involved delivering hands-on science education and designing educational websites on subjects as diverse as Antiguan racer snakes, space science and the mummification process of the ancient Egyptians. Prior to this, James spent ten years in further education as a lecturer in business and economics, employing a variety of learning technologies.
As a member of the JISC e-Learning Team Heather is the Programme Manager for Strand C of the Assessment and Feedback Programme. She also has a remit for co-ordinating the Embedding Benefits Programme and the eLearning Programmes Technology Enhanced Learning Environments Activity Area. Additionally, Heather's work includes being the teams representative for the Heads of eLearning Forum and the co-ordination of the operational area of programme documentation within the team.
Previous Programme areas Heather has managed include UKOER, Learning and Teaching Innovation Grants and the RePRODUCE programme.
