Interesting programme

James Clay ( ALT Learning Technologist of the Year 2009) writes:

I don’t know about you, but I have been to many conferences and looked at the programme of parallel sessions and gone, “I want to go to that session, and that session, and that one, but they’re all on at the same time...”

You have to make a difficult choice. Often the choice is not that simple, do you go to the session that is of personal interest, the one that you know something about and is of professional interest, or the session that your line manager would probably prefer you to attend.

With the JISC Online Conference that difficult decision is made much easier as it is possible to engage with all the sessions and not necessarily all on the same day.

The reading week before the conference opens gives you an opportunity to see and read what will be presented at the conference. This is an ideal time to make choices over what you will give your full attention to, what you will look at now and again, and possibly those areas that you know you won’t have time for.

Once the conference has started proper, you can change your mind, swap sessions and even (virtually) walk out of a session without upsetting the presenter or the other delegates.

Once the conference has finished, it’s not over. You can continue to read and reflect until the 31st December.
