online conference 2006: open call for contributions

The open call for submissions of content for the online conference is now closed

All those who have submitted an expression of interest form will be contacted shortly. Please note that the deadline for submission of content is midnight , 3 March 2006.Content can be submitted asemail attachments, or as links to content hosted on a website.

Submissions

Submissions may be presented in a range of formats including:

  • papers/presentations (up to 3,000 words) e.g. comments upon, responses to and illustrations of the conference themes, case studies/histories, research and action research reports, e-learning scenarios, accounts of learner experiences of e-learning.
  • dialogues (up to 2,000 words): jointly authored submissions focusing on alternative viewpoints or perspectives on key issues in e-learning, designed as starting points for discussion
  • short papers, examples and demonstrations of innovative practice (up to 1,500 words plus illustrative materials: see below)
  • video case studies/histories of innovative practice (edited, with a maximum running time of 5 minutes).

We actively welcome submissions that include interactive and multimedia materials for illustration, e.g. photographs, images, animations, video and audio files, innovative learning materials, podcasts, transcripts, examples of learners’ work. We also welcome submissions that take an innovative approach to the use of the online medium for presentation, e.g. dialogues, weblogs, e-lectures etc.

Suggested formats for submissions are:

  • Documents: Microsoft Office or Open Office, PDF format
  • Videos: AVI, QuickTime, MPEG or wmv format
  • Audio: MP3

Large files - 9Mb plus - should be hosted on a website for downloading, rather than emailed as attachments. This option should also be taken if the software used is best viewed from the website where it is located. Streamed video content must be hosted on the contributor’s website.

Copyright

All submissions must be the work of the contributor and contain no elements that may be subject to copyright by other parties. Submissions in video format should be accompanied by permission statement signed by individuals interviewed on camera. You can use this submission form. Selected submissions will be brought together in an e-book of the conference accessible on the conference website after the close of the event.
