To enable QTIv2.1 to become a final specification, at least two profiles must be specified, implemented and documented. Interoperability with the first, simple CC QTIv2.1 profile has been publicly demonstrated with twelve different tools during the IMS quarterly held in Koblenz, Germany, August 2010, and it is intended for inclusion in a future version of Common Cartridge. Four of the QTIv2.1 renderers were initially JISC-sponsored projects. The task of specifying, implementing and demonstrating the “Main Profile”, which covers the functionality that is used by as wide a set of stakeholders as possible, remains. This project will create and document a demonstration set of items and tests and existing rendering and authoring tools will be deployed to provide demonstration and code-testing facilities for the profile. The project will also facilitate the involvement of other communities in QTI development, implementation and use, by ensuring that expert advice and practical help is at hand for those wishing to convert an existing question and test bank or author a new collection. In addition, it will ensure that a rich and representative set of example questions is available with the specification.

QTI Implementation and Profiling Support

Summary

Objectives

Assist with development of the QTIv2.1 Main Profile by

  • Deploying and demonstrating 3 existing rendering engines which correctly render the profile
  • Deploying and demonstrating authoring tools for the profile
  • Creating and documenting a set of items and tests which demonstrate the profile

Provide online support to QTIv2.1 users by

  • Deploying support resources on a website, including the software and examples mentioned above,
  • Providing facilities and support for conversion of commonly used question formats to QTIv2.1
  • Providing support resources for implementers of QTIv2.1

Anticipated Outputs and Outcomes

  • Project blog and wiki http://qtisupport.blogspot.com/
  • 3 renderers for QTIv2.1 Main Profile
  • Test editing and packaging for QTIv2.1 Main Profile, with support for import and conversion
  • Profiling tool for items & tests
  • Test Set of items & tests for QTIv2.1 Main Profile, with sample input and feedback
  • A virtual machine for deploying the renderers and the user support site
  • An active rendering and support site on the Amazon Cloud
  • Conversion facilities for Moodle quizzes, BB/WebCT quizzes, QTIv1.2 to QTIv2.1
  • Downloadable training slides & documents
  • Annotated question & test download
  • FAQ page for authoring/conversion
  • Capability to store XML for use in support conversations
  • Downloadable implementation support documents
  • FAQ page for implementation
    Support via email
