A set of case studies examining ways in which OER are used in Higher Eductation in England.

Case studies of OER use

The JISC/Academy UKOER2 programme gathered case studies via an open call in order to gain a fuller understanding into the way Open Educational Resources (OER) are used in a variety of contexts - including, but not limited to, the seminar room, lecture-theatre and Virtual Learning Environment - to advance and support the learning experiences of students in Higher Education in England. We were particularly interested in how OER material from outside of an institution has been used within it.

From the submissions we have recieved, we have chosen to publish six case studies showcasing a variety of practice.

What is clear from these case studies is that there is no one dominant model of OER practice - as you may expect academic preference and judgement are as key to the process of reuse as they are to the process of creation.

We continue to learn more and more about reuse as the programme progresses - as well as the work of our core projects we have commissioned a study regarding the use of OER by academic staff and students, and are comissioning another regarding the student voice around OER.
