SEDA: Academic Development for Digital Literacies
Run one-day events at appropriate stages of the project, some in collaboration with other professional associations.
Publish articles and updates in SEDA's quarterly magazine, Educational Developments,
Submit articles to SEDA’s journal, Innovations in Education and Teaching International (IETI), which maintains a strong focus on learning technologies.
Publish at least one SEDA Paper on the development of digital literacies.
Use SEDA Jiscmail lists as a major consultation and communication method for this project.
Establish a Special Interest Group on Technology-Enhanced Learning.
Give serious consideration to modifying SEDA's current qualifications, and to the introduction of a new qualification.
Ensure that the Higher Education Development Community, which the Academic Development for Digital Literacies project officer currently convenes, continues to give active consideration the development of digital literacies.
Work closely with the other professional associations on initiative on the development of digital literacies.
SEDA and the development of digital literacies
SEDA members initiate, support and lead changes to educational practice in higher education, both in universities and in colleges. A growing part of this role involves ensuring that innovations in information learning technologies are effective in improving student learning and the support of learning.
The concept of digital literacies is increasingly central to this work. The concept moves attention beyond the particular information or learning technology. It encourages attention more broadly to the digital world which both students and staff increasingly inhabit, and thereby to the learning which is necessary to function effectively in this world. The concept encourages academic developers to work closely with academics and learning technologists to ensure that learning, rather than technology, leads.
The work will enhance the work of academic developers in supporting the critical, scholarly, appropriate and effective enhancement of digital literacies across higher education.

Current intended outputs are described in the project summary above. Experience to date with the projects suggests strongly that there will be others.
